Durable Power of Attorney

A Durable Power of Attorney is a document that allows you to appoint an agent to manage your property in the event that you become unable to do so. This is a very powerful document. The individual you name as your Agent will have the power to manage all of your financial affairs. For instance, your Agent will have the power to do such things as buy and sell real estate, open and close bank accounts, and sign tax returns. These are just a few of the powers commonly granted to an Agent under a Durable Power of Attorney. Accordingly, your Agent needs to be an individual you trust completely.

The Durable Power of Attorney document needs to be notarized.
